Having problems getting Sling TV to work on your Amazon Fire Stick today (April 20)? You’re not the only one. There seems to be a sudden spike in issues reported across Fire Stick devices—including buffering, app crashes, login loops, and the dreaded black screen after launching the app.
Some users report getting stuck on the Sling logo, while others can navigate the interface but can’t play any content. This may be due to a recent app update that’s causing compatibility problems with certain Fire OS versions.
Recommended fixes include:
Force closing the Sling app: Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Sling TV > Force Stop
Clearing cache and data: Same menu as above > Clear Cache & Clear Data
Uninstalling and reinstalling Sling
Rebooting the Fire Stick (hold Select + Play for 10 seconds or unplug)
Updating Fire OS: Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates
If the app still fails to work after trying all the above, it may be a broader service issue or a glitch introduced in the most recent update. Some users have had temporary success by logging in with a different account or using a different streaming device.
We’re gathering reports here to see how widespread the problem is, and if it’s tied to specific Fire Stick models (Lite, 4K, 4K Max, etc.). If you’ve experienced the issue, please post:
